“The ST Revival group is dedicated to preserving and promoting a generation of Super Street Fighter II Turbo competition, across the U.S. and worldwide.”
Our goal is to foster Super Turbo competition everywhere. We don’t do it for money, or attention, but for the love of the game. ST has the timeless, intangible qualities which enable those rare pieces of entertainment that live on and evolve years after its release, thanks to those who love them.

While we lead the charge by organizing, running and broadcasting these ST events, the players who remain hungry and compete time after time in city after city are the true heart of the community.

As always, we’d like to thank the Fighting-Game Community tournament organizers across the globe for their cooperation and support to run Super Turbo at their venues. And the fans worldwide who continue to provide their support and share their excitement for the game.

Our core members consist of kuroppi, papasi, Zaspacer, MuffinMan, Ghaleon, Nomrah, and DGV (Dark Gaiden and Vintage). Please check out the section below to learn more about us or contact us and ask how you can help us preserve the glory of the Street Fighter!

ST REVIVAL STAFF

Bob “kuroppi” Painter is one of the first generation of Street Fighter players still invovled in the scene today. Known for his yellow E. Honda, he has competed in various tournaments over the years from the a.g.sf2 days, EVO, and even in the first Super Battle Opera in 2003.
As the fighting game scene stagnated in the mid 2000′s, he found other interests outside of Street Fighter but that proved to only last a few years. The advent of GGPO and HD Remix brought him back to the scene that he loves and hasn’t left yet.

A psychology major at San Diego State University, he took a different career path, deciding to go into designing video games and has been working on EverQuest for the past 12 years. With a busy schedule at work and home, he plays some of the newer fighting games casually but focuses most of his spare time in the fighting game community with his Tournament Results Database and being a part of ST Revival, determined to keep ST in the spotlight like it is in Japan and also giving back to the scene that he has been a part of for so many years.

Christopher “Ghaleon” Hatala holds a bachelor’s in journalism from The Ohio State University and is a trained marketing coordinator and battle-tested Event Director.

Co-founding Season’s Beatings in 2006, he traveled with future-SB-co-director Fugee to major after major in the early 2000s, becoming a top force in 3rd Strike and training in Japan with the U.S. SBO Street Fighter II team in 2010.

He also serves as Event Chair of Hudson, OH’s American Cancer Society Relay For Life fundraiser and is enjoying a career in nonprofit management and event coordination.

Keep tabs on happenings in Super Turbo, other major events and the FGC in general through twitter and Season’s Beatings’s website: www.godlike-entertainment.com

Papasi is a diehard street fighter 2 enthusiast. He is a huge fan of simple / good game designs during the arcade / nes / snes era where you cannot simply put eye candies in a game to please the customers.

With the current fighting game scene having 7 different last gen games competing for player’s attention, he secretly hopes that Capcom can come to their senses and produce a true sequel to the street fighter 2 series so the community can agree upon a single game to compete and play.

Darryl “TheMuffinMan” has played competitively since 2002 in both ST and Capcom vs SNK 2. In 2007, he began to play ST more seriously by spending countless hours on GGPO and in arcades, and he managed to compete in Super Battle Opera (Tougeki) ’08 alongside Warren “EvilElvis” Patten.
In 2011, with the renewed popularity of the legendary Super Arcade in Walnut, CA, Darryl took the opportunity to revive interest in ST by running tournaments in tandem with the popular Wednesday Night Fights series by Level|Up.
Now that the scene is returning from a drought, he shares his time running events at Super Arcade and contributing to the ST Revival website/effort while studying Information Technology at his local Junior College.

Terry “Zaspacer” Cox is a San Diego native who started playing Street Fighter II in 1991 while in High School. He developed most of his play in college at The University of California at Santa Barbara and while on break playing at Yellow Brick Road Arcade in San Diego, and he was an early poster on the internet newsgroup alt.games.sf2.

He left SF2 just after the release of Super in 1993, and didn’t return to playing SF2 until after the release of Hyper Fighting on XBox 360 in 2006. In an effort to teach himself Super Turbo for the release of the Super Turbo variant SF2:HDR, Terry created streetfighterdojo.com (a video library of top player matches) as a training tool in 2008.

He has a Bachelor’s degree from UCSB in Economics/Accounting and has worked in the Video Game and Finance Industries. He enjoys game design, working on various projects, and contributing to the ST community.

Harmon “nomrah” Tam has been a life long fighting game player. Having competed for many years, he now enjoys the planning and organizing aspects of tournaments. Harmon is one of the co-directors of the Season’s Beatings tournament series.

Having rediscovered ST in the early 2000s through MAME, he has seen the revival of ST first hand from camping out in Kaillera hoping that someone would join his ST game all the way to the packed lobbies in GGPO to the next-gen resurgence in the form of HDr. He couldn’t be happier that his favorite game still gets as much love as it does and will be working to ensure that trend continues.

Ken “Dark Gaiden” attended UC-Berkeley and currently residing in the suburbs of Southern California. Career wise, he studied Political Science and currently co-owns several companies.

Ken has been playing the Street Fighter series since the World Warrior days, where he learned the SF2 games on pad, with the assistance of countless hours sparring with his brother (Vintage) and competing on Xband..

He has been attending tournaments since the B5 days. After traveling and competing in quite a few SF2 tournaments, he has gained a strong appreciation for those who continually participate (attending/organizing) to keep the SF2 scene alive.

At a young age, Fudd was romanced by stories of Street Fighter II’s old school days from his older brother. Ever since Fudd got out of high school, he’s been chasing after the arcade experience he missed out on due to youth.

From 2DF’s “Super Sundays” to GGPO to HDR, he has had plenty of experience competing online. But the thrill of offline play is what he looks forward to the most and keeps him coming back for more, even if it means traveling to find competition.

In a time when the quality of games is seldom held to high standards, he considers it a personal responsibility to spread the holy gospel of legendary games such as Super Turbo. Though sometimes, it’s not that good games don’t exist, rather that there is such a small playerbase.
